My personal skin care tips during these testing times (PART 1) - *Hand Eczema/Allergies/Rashes* - Skin on our hands is bearing the brunt of this lockdown. I am seeing a lot of cases of hand allergies/eczema/rashes since this lockdown which are a direct result of repetitive hand washing. Here are a few tips that can help curb the problem - a. Keep a moisturizer/lotion on every sink/basin in your house (kitchen/living area and toilets) and make sure to put it EACH and EVERY time after washing your hands (even if you think you will need to wash your hands again after 5 minutes only for whatever work). The most important words here are 'each and every time'. Repetitive hand washing with soap leads to depletion of your natural moisture from the skin and thus it needs to be replenished. This boosts your skin immunity and prevents from allergies/rashes. b. Use milder soaps (medicated or something non colored) as these are gentle to your skin. Strictly avoid using the so-called anti-septic soaps (they offer no added advantage; rather they are harmful and harsh to your skin). c. Be smart while doing household chores; for example - don't wash your utensils 3 times a day. Accumulate them, wear rubber disposable gloves (or plastic gloves or just a plastic bag with rubber band), and wash them all in one go. This saves multiple exposure of water and soap to your skin. Once you are done, remove the gloves, wash your hands and put on your moisturizer. Similarly try accumulating your soap/detergent/water exposure during the day as much as possible and try using gloves/mitts for everything and once done, put on the moisturizer. d. Cut your nails short. This prevents accumulation of soap/detergent beneath your nails and prevents from allergies and nail discoloration Contact your dermatologist if you have any doubts about which moisturizer or soaps to be used. Hope this helps. Best Cosmetologist in Indore!
